Occupational Therapy

Methodist's occupational  therapists work with patients from all walks of life who have orthopedic injuries, or medical and surgical disabilities. Our therapists also work with patients needing specialized rehab care to master certain daily tasks or learn how to use adaptive equipment, including wheelchairs, orthotics, dressing aids, and eating aids.

Occupational therapy also deals with an individual’s ability to function in a work environment. In this case our therapists might plan work activities, and assess the patient’s progress on an ongoing basis. Therapists also may collaborate with the client and the employer to modify the work environment so that the client can successfully complete the work.

Occupational therapy services generally include:

  • Customized intervention programs to improve the activities of daily life.
  • Comprehensive home and job site evaluations with adaptation recommendations.
  • Performance skills assessments and treatment.
  • Adaptive equipment recommendations and usage training.
  • Guidance to family members and caregivers.

Our occupational therapy includes:

  • Evaluation and treatment as appropriate
  • Therapeutic exercise program
  • Manuel therapy
  • ADL re-training
  • Cognitive/perceptual re-education
